Evaluation Question 2: How effective is the combination of your product and ancillary texts?
A film distributer detmines the marketing stragety for the film, the media that the film is going to viewed on and an idea of what the release date will likely be. They also estimate the average revenue and gather an understanding of the target audience that they will be working with. Different advertising campaigns will take place based on the media products target audience. For example, a modern film and extremely popular film such as The Avengers, has a demographics of mainly male, with around 25% being female, and the main target audience's age being between 18-29 followed up by their second highest demographic age of 30-44. Baring this in mind, advertising via social media, could potenially be a way of getting the attention of the franchises main target audience, and also using television advertisements for the films slightly older audiences, but still a very large chunk of the audience none the less. Film disrupters research what their target audience are into and where they're most likely to see and hear about their new film that they will likely be interested in. Linking to the research side of things, the importance of the research is crucial, like I said. For example, a prime example of this is The Woman In Black, as Daniel Radcliffe, the star of Harry Potter was taking up the lead role in the film, the film distributers did their research to figure out that most of Daniel Radcliffes fans are extremely young, therefore they took this into account, and the final release of The Woman In Black was only rated a 12A and in some places a 12, allowing all of Daniel Radcliffes younger fans to see the movie.
Social media is seamingly becoming a very popular place for an advertsiing campaign. For example, a recent advertising campaign that I found very effect was that for Kevin Hart and Ice Cube's sequel movie, Ride Along 2. They both took to social media, hosting question and answer sessions live on the internet and interacting with fans, creating a very strong relationship with them before the release of the movie, so when it does finally get released, the audience and fans of those starring in it, feel the urge to go and see the movie.

Inspiration Moodboard
This is the moodboard that I created of all of the movies and images that inspired Mr Creek. The majority of these images have a certain theme, of hiding in the dark and following. These all relate closely to Mr Creek as during our trailer Mr Creek follows and stalks Sam, our main character who lives next door. The other photos are relating to the costume of our antagonist, Mr Creek. The main inspiration for Mr Creek's mask our from the films The Strangers and The Purge. The rest of Mr Creek's outfit was inspired by The Babadook, such as the top hat and suit and the long hair.

Three Trailer Inspirations
These are the three trailers that relate closely to our Mr Creek trailer. The first trailer that I chose was the 2008 film, The Strangers. The way in which this film relates to our trailer is that in both films families are on vacation/holiday, when a disruption occurs. The second trailer is the 1978 film, Halloween. In this film Michael Myers seeks revenge on his sister, who he kills and later targets another female who is similar to his sister. This film relates to Mr Creek as there is a sense of revenge in both trailers/films, as Mr Creek wants revenge on a successful author, as he was a failed one. Finally, the last film trailer is the 2014 film, The Babadook. This film uses the same disruption method as our trailer, as there are notes and children books found throughout the house in both trailers, which leads to the unveiling of the villain/monster.

Evil Dead 2 Analysis
Evil Dead 2
Evil Dead 2 is an American horror and comedy film made in 1987.
The film is directed by Sam Raimi and produced by Robert Tapert. As the film is
a horror film, the audience are going to have certain expectations within the
movie. They are expecting low key lighting, scary settings (stereotypically in
areas with dense trees) and some kind of villain/evil being.
Moving on to the narrative structure of the film, the film
follows the classic Hollywood narrative. This structure includes the following
key elements: Equilibrium, disruption (event takes place), recognition of the
disruption, resolution and finally the new equilibrium. I will start with the
equilibrium. The equilibrium is at the very start of the film, where the male
and female character has travelled to a wooden cabin in the middle a dense
forest for a relaxing weekend away. This then leads to the disruption.
Stereotypically the disruptions in horror films are all very similar, it
normally occurs when something is found around the house (normally a book or
some special pages) which has the ability to summon supernatural beings. In
this movie it is where the lead male character turns on the tape recording.
This then leads on to the recognition; this is when the couple notice that
supernatural beings have been entered into this world. Quickly after this is
the resolution attempt, which is when everyone in the house tries to fight off
the evil beings and save them. This is usually the longest area of the
narrative in films; this area is also where the main action and jump scares
happen which the audience expects. Finally, they defeat the evil and send it
back to where it came from, which is where the new equilibrium comes along and
everything is back to normal.
Moving on to the setting of the film, I have already partly
mentioned this but I will go into more depth with it. As I said earlier the
location is a small wooden cabin in a dense forest on a little island. This is
very stereotypical and is a great place for a horror to be set, as they are in
a very tight, dense and secluded area. This gives off a trapped feel to the
film, which helps add to the tension, as there is no way out for the
characters. Also, the setting of the film is predominately seen at night, as
this is very heavily stereotyped with evil and scary things. If the film was
all shot at day it wouldn’t have the same effect as at night, as the audience
would be able to clearly see what is going on. But, with the film being shot at
night, the audience’s view of the setting is very limited.
Now, I am going to talk about the iconography of this film,
meaning I will talk about what the audience expects to see to in the movie. I
mentioned this briefly in the introduction paragraph, but I am going to be
going into it in much more depth. To start with I am going to talk about the
mise-en-scene. The first piece of mise-en-scene I am going to look at is
lighting.
